I have had a very mixed experience of this school. When I first arrived the students were very non accepting but it got better with time.I unfortunately did have a racist experience at this school but the school did a very good job handling it and taking care of it.

I didn't realize how poor the education was until I got to college and realized I didn't have many of the basic skills I needed. One major improvement I think the school needs is an all around upgrade to the education standards in place. I had no idea what MLA or APA formatting was coming in to college and had to spend a lot of time in the writing center to keep up pace with my classmates. Many of the teachers I had were obviously not interested in being there or teaching us what needed to be taught. Some of my teachers were also football coaches and paid very little attention to the subject they were teaching. I wish they had more programs available for high need students who want to go to college but think that they don't have the means. I would not have gotten into college if it weren't for my parents who knew what they were doing. The school had very little to do with where I am at now.

Compared to public schools that I have attended in the past I would recommend Scurry-Rosser before any of the others. Since I first transferred to Scurry in seventh grade I have grown and blossomed not only academically but as an individual as well. I love how acquainted and friendly everyone is and how the classes are smaller and more one on one. I feel well prepared not only for college but for life as well.
