The Seattle Waldorf School was founded in 1980 and today, is spread across three campuses throughout Seattle. Its main campus is in the Meadowbrook sub-neighborhood within the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle.
Seattle Waldorf is a private school that serves students from preschool through 12th grade and says that Waldorf graduates earn more doctorates than the national average for independent schools.
The school offers a unique learning environment that places an emphasis on experiential learning and the natural world. By design, the curriculum cultivates a deep love of learning within the students as they view their subjects through multiple lenses. The curriculum is modeled after the one developed in Germany by Emil Molt and Rudolf Steiner more than 100 years ago.
Seattle Waldorf has small class sizes with a 1:12 teacher-to-student ratio. Students are immersed in interconnected, in-depth studies in the areas of science, math, writing, literature, world languages, history, geography, music, theater and dance.
The school is tuition-based and reports that around 38% of its student body receives financial aid in some form. This school is committed to maintaining a student body that accurately reflects the world around them, and tuition discounts are offered with support from the school’s targeted annual fundraising.

Amazing school. Both of my children graduated from here and both were accepted to top universities. My oldest is now entering med school at the top of her class. In looking back, both my children agree that the education they received at Seattle Waldorf gave them the tools and vision to be successful.

Starting in 1st grade, the children get 7 teachers that will stay with them until 8th grade: Main teacher, Handwork teacher, Japanese teacher, Spanish teacher, Eurythmy (dance/qi gong) teacher, Gardening teacher, Movement teacher. In later grades there are a few additional speciality teachers added as well. These teachers are able to know & understand your child unlike teachers that come and go each year in most other schools. They have unique, science based forms of evaluation, giving parents insightful feedback on how to help their child thrive through each state and stage of development into adulthood. I have a background in education (5th grade teacher in public school) and have to say that I am truly astounded how my perspective on education has evolved since my daughter started going to waldorf school here 4 years ago. I look for ways to integrate the work they do in my public school class. I am grateful to have found this school and I highly recommend it !!

A rich, healthy learning environment that teaches to the whole child. This school isn't about prepping a child to pass tests and get into a name college. This school is about fostering a life long love of learning and prepping a child to be an engaged, thoughtful citizen of the world. There is no other school like it.
