GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

It was a very rollercoaster experience. The best part was some of the teachers as some of them was very nice and you can form a great connection with them as well. The worst parts are definitely some of the classes as some are really hard which some teachers purposely make it like that. It's very tough and not really great. I would like to see change in how the teachers run their classes and hopefully they're nicer and more understanding.

I think the teachers really try to help and work with what they have. There is no money going to the school so books are old, tech is old and the building needs a lot of help. The teachers work hard find alternatives to text books since we can't always get new ones. Clubs are good and there is a lot of student involvement.

I really like most of the teachers at SHS. They are thorough with their explanations of new material. They are really dedicated to what they teach, which makes classes more enjoyable. One thing that can be changed is the length of passing time. It is difficult for some students to get to their classes in such a short period of time depending on the distance between their classes.

My daughter graduated from Shelton high school. School offers many resources and provides support to students. General issues are across all school systems even the highest rated amity, trumbull, fairfield etc. If student is focused and parents are engaged, individuals can achieve best in school.

Poor! Shelton is a beautiful growing town. The town has grown faster than the school system. There are lots of politics within the school system. It’s not a warm welcoming environment. The school needs the staff to be overhauled and a fresh start. The schools complain about lack of funding but the s...
