When it comes to my experience at High School West, it's a complicated answer. There are various positives that I can list out, from the endless extracurriculars to a handful of the teachers. However, one of the larger "negatives" there is, is the lack of diversity. It may not seem like a big deal, however as a Filipino woman, it's difficult at times to find a community or a group of people who are similar to myself.

Overall my experience at Smithtown High school west was nothing less than exceptional. Besides the fact you might run into a conflict with a teacher, this schools staff is welcoming, supportive, and helpful. My best experiences were getting accepted into honor societies. What I would like to see changed is the diversity in the school.

Although we just got a new principal, I believe that Smithtown West is an extremely academically based school and provides support for all students. I always feel like I have support at this school, and I believe it sets students up for success whether they go off to college or right into the work world.

This is literally the worst school, everyday I come here I feel drained and miserable and the staff are a bunch of old miserable people. There’s like 4 teachers I actually like and I know care about there students. When you are a teacher you can’t not like kids and it’s obviously half the staff here...

This school turns a blind eye to the bullying until your child has to defend themself, then they are calling you to report that your child is aggressive. Everyone here in Smithtown knows someone so if you get a group of clique kids that target another, don't expect much unless you are in the same in...

This school used to be good, but not anymore. Academically, the teachers dont do a goodjob of preparing the students for college. Socially, there is a major drug issue that is swept under the rug..

They have great teachers. I had a great experience. And both my kids got accepted to Cornell University!
