I had a fairly good experience with my time at South Elgin High School. Our grading system is an issue many people have with our district as it doesn't prepare us for college. It is extremely hard to fail a class and fairly easy to earn an A based off the system. Due to attendance rates, we are unable to leave school unless called out for a parent which doesn't seem fair as someone who sometimes just needs to sit in the car during a lunch period to decompress. I although however haven't had much to complain about.

School is diverse. Behavior is awful. Some teachers are great! No discipline ir consequences for students at all. Cells are a real issue.

Overall it was pretty good, most of the teachers were really good and I loved them. With some, I didn't love their teaching style but I managed to learn/teach myself what I needed. I did struggle a bit with my mental health but when asked I assured them I had outside resources so I didn't need any of their resources (if any). The music program was really good though, I was enrolled in orchestra for all my four years and the teacher was really nice, I made a lot of really great friends there, and I got plenty of extra music opportunities through it.
