Southside high school is a very club focused and sport focused school with a very very tight nit community that seems hard to be a part of.Coming from a student that didn't live in the main city of southside it can be hard to even keep with everyone, southside is a much richer area so the activities and social requirement in that school require an unnecessary amount of money .Southside high school and its neighboring middle school right next to it compete with other schools on club and sport,or band programs and only one of these gets funded by city aid.so most of its funding comes from fundraisers even though the area has lots of property value and higher household income if you go to this school the only reason why you should go to thic school is for their football/sports program, band ,or ffa.in all just go to the competing school Gasden city they offer everything and more ant cheaper rates.

My experience at Southside has been overall decent I know it not the worse place but there is definitely more they should work on but as a kid with a visual impairment I feel that my needs have been met and there are some teachers that aren't the best but the good ones are worth it because some really do care about you and make up for the others

This school is one of the best public schools in alabama hands down. It prepared my kids for ACT and SAT, college, and give them the opportunity for advanced classes and dual enrollment. Everyone wants there kids to go to this type of school to prepare for their future.

We had four children go through the John Jones Elem., Southside Elem. and Southside HS schools and we couldn't be happier w/the results. All four have completed college (w/honors) and I give a very large amount of credit to the Southside areas schools. No school is perfect and there's always room fo...

We came from the "best" rated school district (and most expensive) in Georgia. Once here, I was DELIGHTED to find an old fashioned, loving community of teachers who care, and principals who don't take flack from anyone. What a blessing. The education isn't the best money can buy, but no amount of mo...
