GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience as a student was overall mediocre. Although I firsthand saw and experienced neglect to certain situations that administration should have interfered with. Hopefully, with new principles and faculty members stepping up, things will have a more positive change.

Overall, a decent highschool experience. Had the pandemic not hit, I'd have put stars over everything. I enjoyed my time at Southwest High School and believe that despite some of the facilities and faculty being lackluster, it was more than enough to provide what I needed.

There's a new teacher every year and has too many bomb threats. The county changed math curriculums out of the blue not giving...

I graduated from Southwest this year & I could honestly tell you I wouldn't have wanted to graduate any other school in Onslow County. The principal for the past few years has made the entire student body into one big family, along with the support of our two fallen students who we have lost this sa...

I am glad of the change in principles. Over the last year the school has improved. I get call backs and concerns from the principle when I call about any problems or issues. My daughter likes the change of principles also and feels he cares about the students. She has been to him several times about...
