Academy Hill School is a coeducational private school located on Liberty Street in Springfield. The school serves students in prekindergarten through eighth grade residing in the Liberty Heights neighborhood and the Springfield metropolitan area.
Academy Hill, which opened in 1986, is accredited by both the Association of Independent Schools in New England and the National Association of Independent Schools. The school sits on a 5-acre campus with a blacktop, playground and 17 classrooms including a science lab, music room, fine arts center and language-learning space.
Students at Academy Hill engage in math, science, social studies, literacy and world language classes. Both elementary and middle school students start learning Spanish or French in kindergarten, and they can also participate in Latin and classical studies courses as early as fourth grade. Fine arts and music classes are also part of the learning experience at Academy Hill, including instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture and graphic design.
In addition to academics, students participate in multi-age enrichment clusters based on similar learning levels and common interests. The school also offers before- and after-school programs and summer enrichment programs throughout the month of June.

I have to agree with a previous reviewer. Several of the better teachers have left, which left us with a void, particularly in the high grades. It is a very small school, so losing a few families in grade 6 or 7 has been a critical loss. And more are leaving this year. The board seems to focus only on the grades where they have their own kids. The principal is trying, but the resources are not there. We are moving on at the end of the year.
