Glenwood Elementary School is a public school in Springfield’s Liberty Heights neighborhood. Located between residential streets and the northern edges of Van Horn Park, Glenwood Elementary opened in 1930 and has been serving students in the Springfield area ever since.
Students take courses in math, science, social studies and language arts, with supplemental classes in art, music and physical education to fulfill the requirements of the school’s core academic curriculum.
The “Glenwood way” represents the school’s mission to foster respect, responsibility and safety among students and faculty. To meet this goal, the school’s Positive Instructional Supports program incentivizes good behavior and rewards academic achievement.
Glenwood students and staff celebrate throughout the year with community events and schoolwide activities such as pajama day, door decorating contests, art exhibits and movie nights.
An expansive blacktop area, plenty of green space and a fenced-in playground also provide outdoor space for students to socialize and play on the school’s grounds each day.

The school is great academically. my daughter has been going here since kindergarten in 2005 and is now in the fourth grade. it does not have a gymnasium howebver and there is no art or music either. They focus so hard on theai academics I feel the children get bored with the learning.there is not v...
