Liberty Preparatory Academy, also known as Liberty Prep, is a public high school and recovery school located on Alderman Street in the Forest Park neighborhood of Springfield. Liberty Prep is open to students in Springfield and surrounding areas who are recovering from addiction and substance abuse issues. The school serves students ages 14 to 21, and enrollment is typically 10 students per class and kept small to best serve students in reaching graduation requirements and preparing for college or a career.
The goal at Liberty Preparatory Academy is for students to work on academics and social-emotional skills while receiving support in recovery. Students receive academic check-ins, enrichment courses, individual counseling and group counseling with experienced staff.
The faculty and administration at Liberty Prep also supports parents, guardians and caregivers through this process by offering community resources and weekly updates on each student. Liberty Preparatory Academy is an option for students, caregivers and educational professionals who believe that a young person should not have to choose between graduating high school and receiving help and support in recovery. At Liberty Prep, they can do both.
