GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall the academics of the school are fairly solid. However, the school is heavily academic-based so the schedule and flexibility are not the best. One other thing that I would love to see an improvement on is announcements. The school should more often use email to provide students with information instead of solely announcing on the announcements

I would like to see extensions of the IB Program within the school and see new classes, more students, and more faculty be involved with it.

My overall experience with Central was good. The staff, teachers, and students there are very hardworking, and fun to collaborate with. The curriculum is challenging and on-point. My best experience at Central was getting to join in its wide variety of extracurriculars. Perhaps something that could change is the school environment, as it can be noisy at times.

Both of my Daughters attend Central and are in the IB programs, and have joined the A+ program. Both sing in the Choir and are members of the Kilties the oldest all female drum and bugle corps in the nation. Proud traditional values.

We love Central! Wouldn't go anywhere else in Springfield. Very liberal school, which is a great fit for me and my family.

The level of education at Central seems great at first. They have the IB program and are highly ranked nationally. The problem is that they spend too much time focusing on acceptance of liberal, worldly ideals. We are not a crazy right wing family but my son hated the widespread promotion of homosex...
