The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

While the administration and overall culture of the school have room for improvement, Northwestern still offers a fulfilling education and highschool experience. Students have many experienced teachers, resources and opportunities all helping lead to success.

Some things that I liked about Northwestern High School was the community and the teachers. I loved all the support for all sports and activities and the school spirit. Football games and other sports were so fun to go watch because the crowd loved being there. Some things I would wish to see change would be maybe the politics in sports. In some sports, based on your last name and who you are you will play more than others even if you work ten times harder than they do. This has been going on for years, and I know it happens at other schools it is just frustrating when it happens to you.

Overall my school experience was okay but they can do so much better. The sports teams at the school are very cool and the coaches were amazing and did their best to make sure I was having a good time and also training me to be the best athlete I could be. The food is nothing special. Typical cafeteria food. There is little to no diversity but that is mostly due to the area the school is located in. Academics were easy and I finished my courses in less than two weeks. Some of the teachers were cool, others seemed very uptight and loud. I only went to NW for a few weeks but it was an okay experience I guess.
This school is absolutely an awful environment. Ever since I left Northwestern it has made me realize just how bad people get treated here. I was left out of the yearbook my junior year, most likely on purpose (that says something about the type of people that run this school). If you didn't grow up...
Northwestern was a fine school up until it came time to graduate. I did not attend Northwestern my Junior and Senior years because I chose to pursue career-technical education. The communication between the schools was so poor that I didn't even know about my Senior prom until a week before. I did n...
My child loves Northwestern. I believe that he is getting an especially good education in chemistry, because he always comes home telling me that he would like to get a job as a scientist, and he shows and tells me what things they did in chemistry class that day.
