The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

As a current senior at Sturgis Brown High School I see places where there's needed improvement and where we excel as a school. There isn't very much representation or participation of the arts (music, dance, etc.) here and I love to see that grow. Although, we do have an exceptional CTE programs, such as welding, woodcrafting, machining, and agriculture classes.

I would like there to be counselors who don't have a bias for certain students so they can be more helpful especially in graduating and having scholarships and just helping you figure things out for all students not just their favorites the office staff needs trained better and more opportunities for students to get the certificates and Awards that help them in real life and in college

Sturgis Brown can be a great place to go to school if you're willing to learn. They offer many clubs, such as the chess club, drama club, and many teams such as the Speech and Debate team, the best Speech and Debate team in all of South Dakota.
