GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience at the school has been somewhat in the middle all four years here. The faculty and staff care about their students and show that everyday we come to school. However, some of the students could be better with their respect to faculty. They could also treat the school facilities a lot better as well.

It could have been better with the education aspects and the saftey aspects, mostly pertaining to the numerous fights in the school where people get taken away in handcuffs. Some of the teachers are exemplary and make learning amusing and it is beneficial to the students, while others are not necessarily qualified especially thoughts hired temporarily or substitutes.

I would like that there were six periods to include all core classes and two electives. Students will easily forget what they have learned by the next semester because they are expected to keep with what they previously learned. This is not how learning should be.

I wish I sent my child to another school.Questioning an instructor about my child’s work or grades is often considered as confrontational or reprisal towards my child in class. Teachers dont keep confidences as requested by parents in discussing email parent/teacher correspondence. It’s discussed wi...

I agree with the parent post Nov 2012. We are actually new to Sumter and had lived around the globe and from my experience Sumter HS is by far one of the Worse experiences! The overall education level in Sumter appears lower than many other places. Many of the teachers my children had to endure at S...

For those parents who have never lived outside of Sumter, this school may be what they think as good. Having lived in other areas around the US, I can tell you that it is very weak in many areas from my observations. On the few times I have come to visit the office, I have seen students wandering ai...
