This high school isn't the best, however it is doing the best it can. Sumter High School shines in the spots where it excels, such as growing arts programs and athletics. The academics are just okay. The course offerings for higher level academics are limited, such as the AP selection.

I've been in Sumter High School since my freshman year and now I am graduating this year. The experience is definitely what you make out of it. My friends and I have had a very nice and well rounded and involved experience at Sumter High. Just apply yourself!

My experience with Sumter High school was and is the best I could ever ask for. I really appreciate all that this school has done for me and i look forward to learning more and ending my journey with this school. SHS has built my character and my will to learn. There is never a dull moment with teachers, academics, and activities.

The teachers are very good, the school is very big but that's not a bad thing and quality of learning is amazing and the best I've seen from any school

I agree with the parent post Nov 2012. We are actually new to Sumter and had lived around the globe and from my experience Sumter HS is by far one of the Worse experiences! The overall education level in Sumter appears lower than many other places. Many of the teachers my children had to endure at S...

For those parents who have never lived outside of Sumter, this school may be what they think as good. Having lived in other areas around the US, I can tell you that it is very weak in many areas from my observations. On the few times I have come to visit the office, I have seen students wandering ai...
