Hackley School is one of the nation’s premier private educational institutions. Founded in 1899 as a college preparatory school for boys, Hackley evolved into a co-educational, kindergarten through 12th grade school with room and board during the school week for students at the Upper School. The 285-acre hilltop campus in Tarrytown features open, woodland spaces, and a mix of architectural styles with Gothic Revival and Tudor-style structures from 1910 set among recent buildings in a more contemporary style.
As a member of the Ivy Preparatory School League, Hackley offers a wide range of Advanced Placement courses, ranging from biology, calculus, chemistry and computer science, to French and Latin. The Hackley School also offers a whole spectrum of opportunities in the arts: 20 different musical groups, six major drama performances every year and multiple student art shows each spring. With an astonishing participation and attendance rate, it’s no surprise that the school also excels in athletics, fielding trophy-winning nearly 30 teams for different sports across grades seven through 12.
Hackley faculty members foster a collegial, cooperative environment among students, in keeping with the phrase engraved above the entry door of the school way back in 1909: “Enter Here To Be And Find A Friend.”
