GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The thing that I believe Taylorville High School excels at is its opportunities for students. They offer programs like CACC, College Now, and CEO. These programs help students get college credits and get some real-world experience. Not only do these programs do this, but they offer a better high school experience for everyone that partakes in these programs.

I really enjoyed my four years at Taylorville High School. The staff there does a great job creating unity and bringing everyone together. There is always an opportunity to express yourself how you please. The counselors there especially do a great job of making sure you feel welcome and that they are always there to talk and to be there to assist you however they can. Our social and emotional counselor does a great job making sure everyone in our school is involved in a club or activity. The school does a great job of making sure that everyone is focusing on their mental health and that their feelings are valid. They even give us four mental health days a semester. I think that this school does a great job of making students feel welcome and important.

I don't feel that the school did a very good job at preparing students for college. The school is ran on who you know and not how well you did. The teachers resent budget cuts and most have a bad attitude about learning, plus all of the budget cuts have removed programs that are different than the normal curriculum.

I'm a Junior at Taylorville High School, and while it isn't great, it isn't awful either. I like that it's a smaller school and we have many freedoms. We don't have to wear uniforms, and I like that a lot. We can use our cell phones if the teacher allows us to. That can be very convenient if I need...

Taylorville High School has progressively become worse over the years. The administration and leadership at the school is dismal at best. The principal does not know what he is doing and makes decisions based on a whim. The assistant principal no longer gives fair and consistent discipline and the r...
