On the far west side of the Stevenson neighborhood, an immersive language learning experience awaits the students of Eisenhower International Elementary School. Beginning in kindergarten, students focus on learning in one of two languages — Spanish or French — versus learning primarily in their native English. As they progress at school, English is slowly re-introduced, culminating in an equal split between the languages once a student reaches fifth grade. Fifth graders also have the opportunity to study abroad in Spain, Costa Rica or France. The immersion program has seen great success at Eisenhower International, as students tend to score high on state testing. The school has also earned prestigious honors throughout its history including being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School and receiving the Creative Ticket School of Excellence award. Eisenhower International also offers students resources to further their learning outside of the traditional classroom. For example, the school has its own Global Learning Center complete with a library and media center with various cultural works, as well as a kitchen for the preparation of cultural cuisine. There’s also an outdoor pollinator garden and botanical learning space at the school, known as Life Lab, where students can develop an awareness for natural lifecycles.

The teachers are from all over the world and they are all so kind and eager to teach our children. My child has had a smooth transition to this school and he looks forward to going every day.

This school created deep emotional wounds in my daughter. The teachers gossip about students, sometimes to other students. They have serious issues with favoritism, ableism, and bullying on the part of the students and teachers alike. Everything my daughter did was villainized and punished, from hav...

Both of my girls have gone to Eisenhower International School. They have excelled in academics and socially. We have had little to no problems with bullying. My oldest who is now at Carver Middle School left after 5th grade with the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish to at least a middle scho...
