In the southeast quadrant of the Stevenson neighborhood, Salk Elementary School serves more than 400 students from prekindergarten through fifth grade. Educators here strive to teach students useful skills for lifelong success such as problem-solving and collabaration. Salk Elementary takes pride in the stability of their school. Many staff members are veteran instructors with nearly 20 years’ experience, which serves to help students remain engaged and ready to learn. Salk also believes that input from each child’s parents or guardians is critical. To increase and maintain parent involvement, Salk hosts several events to provide parents and guardians with helpful resources for supporting their young students. At Salk, elective programs are considered vital to the core curriculum. For example, the school’s physical education program encourages students to participate in International Walk to School Day, the Zoo Run and other activities to take care of their physical health. The fine arts program is another Salk highlight. Students explore music from different instruments and cultures as well as varying methods for creating visual art. Salk also offers a handful of extracurricular programs, such as bike club and student council, to facilitate student learning outside of the classroom.

The principal is not very respectful to any parents. Not the children. Not willing to work with you on really anything. Especially when you just want to be involved.Highly disappointing.

We moved to Tulsa recently from a small town, so this is my child's first year at Salk. The principal is rude, uncooperative, and combative over every concern I have tried to address with her. Bullying is bad at Salk and is not being addressed. The principal does the bare minimum so she can say she...
