GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The worst part was when new administration took over he got rid of some of the traditions that we did every year

The best part about our school is the teachers and amount of students. The worst part is the way disciplinary actions are made

William Byrd is a great school. We love it and they are so helpful to the children. I find the sports funding is a bit biased toward the football team and the band gets very little. The teachers are wonderful and the guidance counselors are helpful. I am thankful for William Byrd. I find that my children are given more chances than they deserve to bring grades up and especially since COVID. Covid really put the kids behind and I know the school did the best they could but I don't think they have recovered yet. I am not sure they ever will.

Our son loves WBHS. The Marching Band program is well supported. Teachers are supportive when you reach out to communicate, otherwise, students and parents should watch grades on Blackboard and Parent Vue. Counselors are very responsive. I don’t understand some of these ratings; the school we moved...

I agree with the last reviewer -- the administration is not doing a good job, and has turned a deaf ear towards toxic mold in the building making students sick. In 2007, William Byrd tested positive for toxic mold -- the public was never fully informed of the toxic nature of testing. My son tested p...

Many good kids and caring teachers! Administration is a joke! Needs to be replaced! It's a three ring circus there!
