Other than the tight-knit community, I'd say one of the best parts of this school is the early college opportunities. Many of our students get to take courses with our local community college and get dual credit.

The worst experience that I had at Waimea High School is during my freshman year when covid-19 came around. My grades was going downhill and my mental mindset was everywhere.

I believe that the staff at the school is very hard working and constantly pushing to improve the school. Many of the teachers are understanding and well versed in a multitude of situations that a student may experience and are always there to help. Some classes were not as developed as I would like but the school made many improvements to fix these issues during my time there.

Since the reviews are pretty outdated, the public needs to be aware of great strides this school has undertaken. This school has the Hawaii Principal of the Year and it is only her third year. Violence is a major concern if you are white. Most of my son's teachers did not know him even though his attendance was great. Drugs were rampant on campus. Test scores were poor. I am glad I took my son to the mainland. I moved him half way through his freshman year. It was a great decision.

the principal is the problem here, and as another review stated, the (district) boss is a former principal who somehow got promoted - go figure. teachers can only do so much with limited resources/support, and "more with less" only will accomplish minimal results. the teachers are rebelling one by o...

This school is horrible. Some of the teachers and the principal didn't even show up for the back to school night. Bullying for NON local kids is rampant.
