The school does a great job preparing you for college but not so great with social emotional relationships. If you are a self starter and have a strong home life relationship then you may survive. Administrators are only concerned about the academics and not the whole child. You will be safe as no violence occurs on school property.

The teachers at Banneker are some of the best educators I have ever had and I am so grateful that they are in my life. They have taught me so much in and outside of the classroom. The Banneker community is everything; they make me want to attend school daily. However, the school lacks support for the arts and other activities which sucks for anyone who is into anything but just education.

Academics are top tier. Teachers and administration show that they care, and there's a multitude of resources available. This school is the #1 school in the city, and would recommend to others.

I would definitely recommend this school. The academics here are far above other high schools in the district. The curriculum is very rigorous, and you have to study a lot but will pay off when you leave for college.

I am currently a 2016 student. The principal does not care I repeat does not care about the students. She only cares about the test scores and keeping the school's reputation up. She even canceled a student's doctor appt; to keep her in testing for the dc cas 2013-2014.

The academic program is very rigorous which provides college preparedness. Banneker is a wonder school for those that want more out of education. The staff is awesome and really help the students when they are needing additional assistance.
