Wealthy Elementary School is dedicated to inspiring students to collaborate and grow. Located between Wealthy Street and Lake Drive, it’s centrally located in East Grand Rapids. The school ranks above average in test scores and balances a strong curriculum with enrichment opportunities.
The school building was constructed in 1926. Due to its central location, it served as an East Grand Rapids high school until 1963.
The welcoming culture of Wealthy Elementary is based on TEAM expectations. This means preparing students to take responsibility, keeping everyone safe, being always respectful and seeking to make a difference. As a National Blue Ribbon School, Wealthy Elementary provides exemplary instruction to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. From Junior Great Books and Poetry Club to band and sports, there are many opportunities for students to enjoy enrichment activities. Wealthy Elementary has provided local students with Spanish language instruction for over 20 years and has hosted a choral music concert for over 40 years.
Wealthy Elementary is just one of several elementary schools in the East Grand Rapids Public School District. Dedicated teachers and staff work together to create a culture of opportunity that recognizes the strengths of individual students and prepares them for the future.

Our kid learns a ton, comes home happy and curious, and has made lots of friends. Any problems, the teacher and principal have been very responsive. They have 3 outdoor recess every day. This is an excellent school with an outstanding young principal with strong values and some truly Outstanding teachers. Student body and parents are open and friendly.
