A ministry of the Weddington United Methodist Church, Weddington Christian Academy (WCA) is a private school serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International, WCA enrolls 120 students with a 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio, higher than state and local averages. Students participate in a full classical education curriculum; Spanish is introduced to middle school students, and STEAM education – science, technology, engineering, arts and math – are emphasized as pathways to guide student inquiry, discussions, and critical thinking for all learners. Numerous programs encourage students to volunteer in the community. Annual tuition ranges from $7,300 up to $12,000, not including fees which can add another $1,000 to the cost.
WCA offers several after-school athletic programs including golf, cross country, volleyball and basketball. In addition, it offers both before- and after-school care programs for students, plus an active parent-teacher organization for fundraising and social activities. Specialty camp opportunities include art, music and robotics. Hawks serve as the mascot for WCA, and are included in its mission statement: Honor, Accountability, Work, Kindness and Success. Absolutely excellent. For the first time l, my child (new to the school this year) loves school. Teachers work to know students and their individual learning styles, and challenge them academically. The teachers and staff create a caring community.
