The overarching vision of Westside High School, a public school in Briar Village, is to see the potential of all students realized. This school serves students in grades 9-12.
Wednesdays and Thursdays are block schedule days at the school, which the school says contributes to academic excellence. In addition, Westside collaborates with colleges and universities to offer Advanced Placement courses. Westside offers several Dual Credit courses through a partnership with Houston Community College, which allows students to fulfill high school graduation requirements while earning college credit.
Students can keep their calendars busy by attending events organized by clubs and organizations, College Night, Coffee & Conversation with the Principal and more.
Westside offers numerous opportunities for students to get involved with more than 40 clubs and organizations.
A wide variety of sports are offered, such as basketball, football, track, and volleyball. Music, choir, dance, and more are all part of the Performing and Visual Arts Programs. In addition, the school offers a four-year entrepreneurship program designed by the National Restaurant Educational Association Foundation.

Westside High School is an interesting experience and I've enjoyed the process the whole way through it. The teachers here are very experienced and understand what they are teaching very well, so the academics are very good as long as you listen. The athletics are extremely good, and the coaches are very professional. I swam and played water Polo and my coach was one of the best teachers and mentors to me, even becoming a very good friend to me.

Westside overall is a great school, and it's really diverse as a whole. Its students are great and there is a great community as well. The administration can sometimes be irritating but overall they are all there to help. Like every other high school, it has its ups and downs like fights and drama and all that but it's good so far.

My experience at Westside High School has been a great one. Meeting people I will know for a lifetime has been the biggest blessing of all. I wouldn't have been able to meet this people and achieve all the wonderful things I have with this school/ If it wasn't for my brother who was an alumni I never would've thought of coming here. Westside has given me a place to discover my passions in a safe environment where I know my teachers care about my education and well-being.

This school is by far the worse experience that my daughter and myself have experienced. The Deans and Principals are not trust worthy. The Principals do not care about the students well being. My daughter was assaulted on this school premise. We are frustrated, and emotionally and mentally affected...

While my last years here were good, my recent visits to this school have shown that management and order are on a decline here.
