The overarching vision of Westside High School, a public school in Briar Village, is to see the potential of all students realized. This school serves students in grades 9-12.
Wednesdays and Thursdays are block schedule days at the school, which the school says contributes to academic excellence. In addition, Westside collaborates with colleges and universities to offer Advanced Placement courses. Students who participate in this college-level program can receive college credit by taking AP courses and sitting for the AP exam at the end of the course.
Westside offers several Dual Credit courses through a partnership with Houston Community College, which allows students to fulfill high school graduation requirements while earning college credit.
Students can keep their calendars busy by attending events organized by clubs and organizations, College Night, Coffee & Conversation with the Principal and more.
Westside offers numerous opportunities for students to get involved with more than 40 clubs and organizations.
A wide variety of sports are offered, such as basketball, football, track, and volleyball. Music, choir, dance, and more are all part of the Performing and Visual Arts Programs. In addition, the school offers a four-year entrepreneurship program designed by the National Restaurant Educational Association Foundation.

My experience at Westside High School has been a great one. Meeting people I will know for a lifetime has been the biggest blessing of all. I wouldn't have been able to meet this people and achieve all the wonderful things I have with this school/ If it wasn't for my brother who was an alumni I never would've thought of coming here. Westside has given me a place to discover my passions in a safe environment where I know my teachers care about my education and well-being.

Westside High School is a good school, I would say out of the years I've been. I mostly played sports and participated in culinary arts, and from what I experienced it was pretty fun and a good experience. The teachers I had I would say they did a great job because I had an A or a B in their class and I retained some of the information I learned in that class.

Throughout my 3 years at Westside I have enjoyed plenty of things such as playing basketball and having some pretty interesting classes.

This school is by far the worse experience that my daughter and myself have experienced. The Deans and Principals are not trust worthy. The Principals do not care about the students well being. My daughter was assaulted on this school premise. We are frustrated, and emotionally and mentally affected...

While my last years here were good, my recent visits to this school have shown that management and order are on a decline here.
