School is known for its bad reputation all around the district. Staff is questionable, students are usually falling behind, has gotten multiple threats and safety issues.

The best parts included some of the staff and relationships I built within my time there. However, the lack of student support, outreach, and assistance was unsatisfactory.

I graduated in 1986 and I would not be here now if not for my mother the principal, teachers and counselors who took the time to see in me what I had yet to see in myself. I played football, wrestled, and ran track and I only went to school for the sports. I graduated the principal got me into college(I left two years later) and joined the military(I completed 22 years) retired and I am now working as a sergeant with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. I was a low income kid who lived in a trailer park. But, I look back on my days in school and smile thinking of the friends, some here and some who have passed away(my prayers to the Stokes, Vannoy and McCloud Family). I guess what I trying to say is this make the best of what you have right now because when it's gone and you all go down different paths the things you will remember should only be the good because that's what makes us great. let us all soar like Eagles. Thank you John Porter Class of 1986
