Nicknamed the Wildcats, Woodland Middle School is a Sarasota County public school that teaches approximately 1,000 sixth through eighth graders. The school focuses on representing the five core values of respect, responsibility, caring, trust and family. A Civility Squad, the Principal’s Service Club and student of the month awards reflect these qualities. Students at Woodland test slightly above the Florida average and are on the same level as other students across the state regarding progress. In addition to the standard curriculum, students can choose from several "Encore Selections" as their elective courses. These include Spanish, crime scene investigation, technology and TV production. The school organizes events and activities for students throughout the school year, such as dances, field days and book fairs. A butterfly garden on campus helps kids see biology in action as caterpillars emerge from their cocoons. After school, students can participate in intramural and competitive athletics, from tennis to track and field to basketball. The school also offers special interest clubs, including Junior Thespian Society, Paws Animal Club and Weightlifting & Fitness Clubs for boys and girls.

There a fight every day and there has been times I will repot teacher/students and they do absolutely nothing about it. There as also been times where some students weren’t expelled/ suspended along with different teachers.

This school will ruin your child's life. In this school, a beaten child with a bad heart was expelled from school, and the attacker remained unpunished and continues to go to school, perhaps the attacker is again hatching a plan to beat up another student. Protect your children and do not send them...

A student brought a gun to this school, several parents pulled their kids for the fighting within the first weeks of school. It isn't a safe school. No one gets expelled for fighting and bullying, and most of the incidents of fighting, there were no teachers in sight. Do not recommend.

I can only comment on the Osprey team which is the advanced placement class. They all are great at involving the children and teaching above the standard core classes. The admin and parent involvement is lacking. I never receive notices or picture dates, nothing posted on website, or very infrequent...
