Suburban feel in North Seattle
Pinehurst is on the northern edge of Seattle proper, and being on the outskirts often draws similarities to its other nearby cities. “You’re getting the suburban feel; It’s easy to commute downtown because it borders Interstate 5,” says Jim Pullin, managing broker at Skyline Properties. “It’s less expensive; homes come with yards and white picket fences.” Nearly a third of the neighborhood is anchored by the Jackson Park Golf Course, with the rest accommodating housing, restaurants and shopping. Pinehurst is often associated with the name “Northgate” as it’s close to the Sound Transit’s Northgate Station.
Mixtures of apartments, single families and condos
Apartments make up most of the housing in Pinehurst. In fact, there are nearly twice as many renters as homeowners. Many condos are located off 125 Street and Roosevelt Way. Prices vary from $300,000 for a one-bedroom to $750,000 for a two-bedroom in a new modern building. Modern-style townhouses are priced from $535,000 for a three-bedroom in a traditional place and peak around $850,000 for a newer builds. Single-family homes consist of moderns to ramblers and split levels. Ramblers are priced from $500,000 to $1.3 million. Moderns and craftsmans that were built in the 21st century can range from $1 million to $1.8 million.
Quaint eating establishments
Pinehurst features a fair share of quaint eateries and shopping. Giddy Sloth Café is a newer coffee shop that opened in May 2024, greeting customers with espresso and Costa Rican pastries inside a beachy environment. Pinehurst Pub is a neighborhood favorite for its nightly events and American-style cuisine. Diners rave about the customer service and fresh Ethiopian food at Jebena Café. For weekly groceries there’s a QFC and Safeway nearby. Along Northgate Way, home essentials are available at Target, T.J. Maxx and Best Buy. Northgate Station has a Barnes and Noble and Nordstrom Rack.
Adjacent to Northgate Station
Northgate Mall went through an overhaul, opening the Kraken Community Iceplex (KCI) in 2021. “The KCI is the practice facility for the NHL’s Seattle Kraken team,” Pullin says. “Children love to ride the Zamboni, which treats the ice.” The KCI has become a staple to the neighborhood thanks to its many restaurants, bars and recreational ice sports offerings like figure skating and hockey. During the NHL season, Kraken fans can gather to cheer on the team for a watch party. “Seattle proper is not big on movie theaters, but there’s a lot of movie theaters around Pinehurst,” Pullin says.
Lots of activity at Jackson Park Golf Course
Jackson Park Golf Course includes both a traditional 18-hole course and a nine-hole executive one. Additionally, virtual golf simulation and FlingGolf, which hurls golf balls using a fling stick. Hikers can enjoy the nearly two miles of trails at the Jackson Park Trail, which circles the golf course. Hubbard Homestead is a smaller park on the southwest end with a skatepark and basketball court. Victory Creek Park is another smaller green space that has a walking path.
Extensive college prep work for Pinehurst students
Students can start their education at Olympic View Elementary. The school teaches kindergarten through fifth grade and earns an A-minus from Niche. Afterward, students may attend Jane Addams Middle School, which receives an A-minus and has allows students to participate or try out for any of its seven girls and boys sports. Nathan Hale High has an A-minus and allow students to earn college credit through their College in High School Program. Those credits can translate over to North Seattle College, just a few miles south.
Bordered by I-5
Commuters have easy access to the highway as I-5 is just west of the neighborhood. Those who prefer not to take a car can access the Northgate light rail station, with stops at U-Dub and the Seattle Airport.

I feel very secure while going about my business in the city. Police violence and other crimes are a concern and you hear about it from time to time, but things happen. At least the city it making an effort to reform the police and security of the city, and that's a comfort some cities don't have.

I have lived in pinehurst for 7 years and hope to stay and raise my kids here. We know most of our neighbors and families we've met out in the community are all so friendly. There is excellent Ethiopian food and more and more restaurant and bar options all the time nearby in central lake city.
