Why Live in Catalina Estates
Catalina Estates is sought after for its inland location and lower prices than the St. Petersburg area, around 15 miles away. This mature, leafy neighborhood is at the heart of the Pinellas County Peninsula, offering a reprieve from coastal flooding and higher coastal prices. "After the recent hurricanes that brought flooding to the beaches, it really made some people want to move inland," says Jimary Jimenez, Realtor at Sun Cay Real Estate, who partners with broker Frank Rogers. Yet residents still enjoy Gulf Coast beaches and natural landscapes at Lake Seminole Park. This area has midcentury homes and shady tree canopies. Its blend of modest houses on small lots and upscale houses with acreage is unique. "It's rare to find almost an acre anywhere around here," Rogers says. The neighborhood's south side has a more traditional, suburban layout with ranch-style properties and bungalows from the 1950s through the '70s. These range from around $300,000 to $500,000. On the neighborhood's north side are private, wooded roads with multi-million-dollar properties on large, leafy lots. "If that house were in St. Pete, it would be a $6 million house," Rogers says of their $2.2 million
