Clearwater Home Trends

One of the major cities in Florida’s Tampa Bay area that stretches along the Gulf Coast, Clearwater is textbook Florida: clear blue water, vibrant homes, colorful resorts, amazing beaches, and a tropical atmosphere that makes it easy to see why people flock to the Sunshine State. The city itself is home to just under 120,000 residents, but the Tampa-Saint Petersburg-Clearwater metro area houses nearly three million residents. There are endless home styles to see in Clearwater, ranging from the upscale waterfront homes of Island Estates and the diverse facades of Harbor Oaks to the charming 1920s bungalows of historic Glenwood. The median home sale price of a house in Clearwater sits around $250,000, but there are plenty of homes on either end of the scale, ranging from luxurious Italian-style villas near the water to more modest homes throughout the city. Florida is experiencing a bit of a housing boom, and development and demand are expected to increase, making the Clearwater market quite competitive. But if you’re looking for a sunny home near some of the best beaches in the state, you’re looking in the right place.

Clearwater Attractions

The biggest attraction (literally) in Clearwater is Clearwater Beach, a three-mile stretch of pristine white sand that welcomes locals and visitors year-round. Just off the beach sits incredible resorts and restaurants serving up four-star food and cocktails to authentic Cuban food and more. Head across Clearwater Harbor to the mainland and explore Myrtle Avenue and Court Street to experience the dining options and retail options off the sand. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a top-rated aquatic education center that spends a lot of its time and money rehabilitating injured sea life. If you want to take in one of the best views in the city and see some live music, head to Coachman Park. This expansive green space provides views of the Causeway Bridge but is also dotted with palm trees and provides views of the marina as well. There are several other parks scattered around the city for those looking for an outdoor experience outside the surf and sand. There are also several top-rated golf courses, including Belleair Country Club, Clearwater Country Club, and the Landings.

Commuting in Clearwater

Commuters in Clearwater spend about 24 minutes in their car on the way to work, one way. That’s about two minutes less than the national average. Commute times are the result of living in the Tampa Bay-Clearwater area, where many residents travel to other cities and communities for work. Highway 19, State Route 60, and Interstate 275 are the three major roads that make up the infrastructural backbone of the area. Clearwater is largely car dependent, but there are several bus routes operated by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority. There’s also the Clearwater Jolly Trolley, which travels through Clearwater Beach and downtown, making it a perfect choice for those looking to spend a weekend enjoying the best of the city. The Saint Pete-Clearwater International Airport is just 10 miles east or a 20-minute car ride from Downtown Clearwater.
