Harbor Point is a waterfront neighborhood in Stamford's South End, less than 1 mile from downtown. Once an industrial area, it has been transformed into a mix of modern apartments, dining options, and green spaces. The Harbor Point Boardwalk runs over 2 miles along Long Island Sound, connecting to Commons Park and Kosciuszko Park. Commons Park has walking paths, a playground and events like outdoor movies, yoga and farmers markets. Kosciuszko Park is larger and includes trails, a pavilion and waterfront views. Area restaurants include The Wheel, which stocks local produce and seafood; Sign of the Whale, a gastropub with a rooftop patio; and Bareburger, which uses organic, grass-fed beef. Harbor Point Organic Market provides groceries, and there are more stores about a mile away at Stamford Town Center. Stamford High School and the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering, a magnet high school, are among the public schools students may attend. A free trolley links Harbor Point to locations across the city, including downtown and the Stamford Transportation Center, which offers Amtrak trains, as well as Metro-North commuter rail on the New Haven Line. Westchester County Airport is approximately 18 miles away, and it's about 30 miles to Manhattan.
