Home to Chicago's Oldest sports venue
The village of Stickney is divided into residential life on the west end and a large wastewater plant at the east. The Stickney Water Reclamation Plant employs nearly 400 people and is considered one of the largest in the world. The facility can cause an odor around the area at times. However, locals are a short distance from various dining, retail and public transportation options. It’s a happy medium between city amenities and a suburban feel. Then, they're a short drive from Chicago's oldest sports venue, Hawthorne Racecourse & PointsBet Sportsbook.
Chicago brick bungalows and modest ranches
Stickney holds a variety of housing styles, from high-rise condos to Chicago brick bungalows and modest ranchers. Houses are packed closer together, having smaller front lawns and less than 5,000 square feet of land. Residents can walk out to sidewalks that connect throughout the neighborhood. Folks may have to do street parking for their vehicles, and more expensive properties may include attached garages or pull-up driveways. “Stickney would be even more affordable than Berwyn,” says Laurie Christofano, realtor at RE/MAX in the Village. “It has less amenities, but people can drive up to Berwyn.” Prices range from $150,000 to about $500,000.

Outdoor recreation in all direction
Rench Park and the connecting Veterans Memorial Park have baseball fields, tennis courts, and a sand volleyball court. In the summer, the Stickney Pavilion between the two parks hosts live musical performances every week, and the fields are perfect for lying back and watching fireworks. Haley Park is a smaller park on the far west end. Kiddos can enjoy the playground and swing area. Adults can take a breezy stroll or sit along the various benches. Hikers looking for a spot for nature trails or a trip on a canoe can do so at Ottawa Trail Woods. Cermak Woods is another area for recreation just above Ottawa Woods. It includes fishing opportunities and an aquatic center for those hot summer days.
