New and old construction
“Sunset Hills is a magical place,” says Susan Raimondo, a real estate agent with Keller Williams St. Louis. “People love its tree-lined streets and its mixture of mid-century and new construction homes.”
Sunset Hills has a variety of home styles from the early 1900s, including Colonial Revivals and mid-century ranch-style homes. The smaller houses are between 1,300 and 1,700 square feet, priced from $300,000 to $400,000. Larger houses, often new construction between 2,000 and 3,500 square feet, are priced from $550,000 to $600,000, while rare centennial homes with over 4,000 square feet are priced from $800,000 to $1 million. While Sunset Hills is not the most affordable city in St. Louis suburbs, it’s far from the most expensive, occupying the center of the suburban market.

Sunset Hills offers plenty of places to enjoy the sunset. Watson Trails Park is packed with amenities like a 1-acre lake, picnic sites, two playgrounds, four tennis courts, a basketball court and a disc golf course. Outside city limits, the Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center offers 112 acres of protected oak-hickory forest with paved biking and hiking trails. The Sunset Hills Community Center organizes regular community classes and events, and the Sunset Hills Aquatic Facility has an outdoor pool complex including diving boards, a lap pool, a lazy river and a kiddie pool. Kitun Dog Park is a space for local pets to socialize and play—it’s member-only to ensure that all dogs are registered and up-to-date on shots.
One of Sunset Hills’ most intriguing features is the Laumeier Sculpture Park, a park and art gallery. This 105-acre open-air museum is home to 60 outdoor sculptures spaced along a one-and-a-half-mile walking trail, and the venue hosts educational community events.
In addition to its parks, this city is also home to the Sunset Hills Golf Course, a public 18-hole course with beautiful views of the surrounding forests. The course is popular among novice and experienced golfers and offers golf lessons for anyone looking to improve their game.
