Virginia Park
Mix of ranch-styles and multi-level mansions
Homes in Virginia Park come in various shapes and sizes. There are no HOA fees. "It's an eclectic collection of beautiful homes where no two are alike,” Kaszirer says. “They're in demand because people want something unique with open spaces and bonus rooms that can serve as home offices." Single-story, ranch-style homes between larger, two-story houses typically range from $670,000 to about $800,000. Multi-level mansions and colonials with modern influences and covered porches usually range from $1 million to $2.5 million. Oak, palm and flowering trees are prominent, dotting the sidewalks and well-kept lawns. Roadways are narrow. Most homes have a driveway and garage or carport.High marks for Virginia Park schools
Virginia Park students are part of the highly-rated Plant School District. Education begins at Roosevelt Elementary School, then moves to Coleman Middle School, both graded an A-minus by Niche. Plant High School receives an A-plus from Niche and is known for its athletics, including a state-championship-winning football program. "There's a feeling of safety and comfort here you don't often find elsewhere. Kids walk to all the schools, and your teacher probably lives in the neighborhood," Kaszirer says. "Everyone knows your kids and looks out for them."Marcelino Chelo Huerta Jr Friendship Park
Marcelino Chelo Huerta Jr. Friendship Park is the prominent park in the neighborhood, offering sports courts, picnic shelters and a playground. The canopy of trees provides shade over the tables and chairs. Corona Park is on the eastern side of Dale Mabry Highway and offers amenities similar to Friendship Park.Creative sandwiches at Wright’s Gourmet House

It gets high praise for its mac and cheese and happy hour. A few blocks up the street is Wright's Gourmet House, where diners can get creative sandwiches and desserts. "It is a fabulous, old-school, local deli where you'll see a line every day," Kaszirer says. BJ's Alabama BBQ offers smoked meats and southern sides. Patrons praise the cornbread, collard greens and baked beans. Publix and Trader Joe's are nearby, with Whole Foods a few miles away.Several bus stops along Dale Mabry Highway
The Hillsborough Area Regional Transportation Authority has several bus stops along Dale Mabry Highway, the neighborhood's eastern boundary. The neighborhood is about 6 miles from downtown Tampa and about 4 miles from Tampa International Airport. "People have everything they need here and often joke that they never go north of 275," Kaszirer says. But when residents need to drive to northern Tampa, Dale Mabry Highway is nearby.A Trick-or-Treat neighborhood
Virginia Park is not known for its nightlife, but it is a popular place for families during holidays like Halloween. Neighbors watch from their porches while droves of costumed kids come searching for the best candy. The holiday spirit continues during Christmas, with parents organizing golf cart parades to celebrate.
