However, many speculate that it will only continue to rise. “Home values have been steadily increasing year over year,” says Todd Strayer, an associate with Re/Max Revealty. Despite this, Westerville is still known for its homey atmosphere. “I’ve lived here since 1968, when it was basically a village,” says Rick Rano, a Re/Max Affiliates Realtor. “Now it’s blown up, a lot like the other suburbs in the Northeastern corridor. But it’s still got that small-town feel.”
Neighborhoods range from 19th-century charm to sleek new builds

Uptown is a highly walkable district with 19th-century architecture for both shopping and real estate.

The top-ranked Westerville City School District is home to more than 20 public schools. School administrators push for a well-rounded education through instructors and modern resources. “Our district emphasizes innovative teaching practices and technology integration, preparing students for a rapidly changing world,” says Melanie Amato, Westerville City Schools’ director of communications and community engagement. “We also prioritize arts education, athletics, and a variety of clubs and activities that offer various extracurricular activities to enhance overall student development.” Families in Westerville have several school choice options, including magnet school enrollment through a lottery, intra-district transfers for those already living in the district and limited out-of-district admission.
Hanby Elementary is located off of S State St. in Westerville, OH.
Westerville Central is the newest of three high schools in the Westerville City School District.
Blendon Middle School is located off of S Otterbein Ave in Outer Northeast Columbus.

Downtown Columbus and tech hubs are just minutes away
Westerville has easy access to several major highways, including Route 3 and Interstates 71 and 270. Commuters can reach downtown Columbus in about 16 miles, and the tech hubs of New Albany are about 10 miles away. “Our accessibility is a serious selling point,” says Sandy Raines, founder of The Raines Group. “You’ve got major highways going in every direction: north, south, east and west.” Anyone who prefers public transportation can take a bus through the Central Ohio Transit Authority, which has stops along Polaris Parkway and Cleveland Avenue.
Top spots for hiking, biking and boating around the city
With over 650 acres of public green space and 51 miles of trails, natural beauty is a big part of the area’s charm. “The parks system is second to none,” says Rano. “A lot of people call Westerville The City Within a Park.” Standouts include the botanical displays at Inniswood Metro Gardens, the shaded atmosphere of Sharon Woods, Alum Creek Park North’s historic amphitheater and the boating and fishing on Hoover Reservoir. The Westerville Bike and Walkways system has miles of trail loops stretching across the city. “There’s nowhere you can’t go on that bike path system,” says Krista Lofthouse, real estate consultant with The Raines Group.
Inniswood Metro Gardens provide a tranquil and serene retreat from the bustling city.
Docks can be found all over Hoover Reservoir for residents who love being out on the water.
