It’s a beautiful winding drive through the hills. There are high points where you can see Celina,” Padgett says. “People will travel to downtown to look at the homes that have been refurbished. It’s like stepping back in time.” Prices here range from $350,000 to well over $1 million, with homes typically selling within 30 days.

Local public schools earn A grades
Public school students may attend schools such as Naomi Press Elementary, Scott Morgan Johnson Middle and McKinney North High, which scores an overall grade of A, according to Niche. Home of the Bulldogs, popular pastimes among students include cheering for the football team at the $70 million, 12,000-seat McKinney ISD Stadium.

The Fourth of July parade is a big deal
While Weston may lack amenities, it’s rich in serenity and community spirit. Residents here look forward to wholesome community events such as chili suppers, bingo nights and the annual Fourth of July parade, marked by festive floats and horseback riders waving Texas and American flags. “The July 4th parade is the biggest celebration of the year. There’s no formal registration or cost to be in the parade. It’s a very traditional, small hometown parade. It’s adorable,” Padgett says. “It’s a very quiet town. Everyone knows their neighbors, and if anyone needs something, they’re there for them.”
