Modernity combines with historic charm in Weston
Weston is where historic Main Street Texas meets modern luxury living. Settled in 1842, Weston is the oldest town in Collin County, yet on the outskirts, you’ll discover newly constructed grand estates resting on 4-acre swaths of rolling prairie. “We still have a lot of countryside. That’s the allure,” says Roxanne Padgett, a mortgage loan officer with Roxanne and Mortgage Team. “There’s a lot of growth, but it’s residential not commercial. There’s a tiny downtown strip and all of the buildings are original. It’s a cute little town.”

Some houses are over a century old
Located less than 10 miles from the cities of Anna and Celina, those looking to move here will find everything from early 1900s wooden clapboard cottages in the downtown area to spacious 4,000 square-foot mini-mansions with swimming pools in the greater Weston countryside. “Weston is a destination for people who like to go for long drives in their car or on their motorcycle. It’s a beautiful winding drive through the hills. There are high points where you can see Celina,” Padgett says. “People will travel to downtown to look at the homes that have been refurbished. It’s like stepping back in time.” Prices here range from $350,000 to well over $1 million, with homes typically selling within 30 days.

The area’s parks have sports facilities and hiking trails
Outdoor fun awaits at nearby Founders Station Park. At the 1-acre micro-park, you can play a game of tennis or pickleball, shoot some hoops, or watch your kids frolic on the playground. Erwin Park, which offers 10 miles of trails that wind through the woods and open plains, is a favorite among dog walkers, joggers and bikers alike.

Most shopping and dining are done in Anna or Celina
Downtown Weston hosts little more than a post office and Sis’s Country store, where you can start your day off with a breakfast burrito or purchase the likes of local eggs and honey. So, residents head to Anna or Celina for shopping and dining out. Both cities offer well-known chains, such as Brookshire’s grocery store, as well as a myriad of independently owned options. For date night, consider Tender Smokehouse in Celina. This Texas BBQ gem was ranked as the second-best restaurant in America by Yelp reviewers. Papa Gallo’s is another popular Celina destination to satisfy your Mexican food fix.

The Fourth of July parade is a big deal
While Weston may lack amenities, it’s rich in serenity and community spirit. Residents here look forward to wholesome community events such as chili suppers, bingo nights and the annual Fourth of July parade, marked by festive floats and horseback riders waving Texas and American flags. “The July 4th parade is the biggest celebration of the year. There’s no formal registration or cost to be in the parade. It’s a very traditional, small hometown parade. It’s adorable,” Padgett says. “It’s a very quiet town. Everyone knows their neighbors, and if anyone needs something, they’re there for them.”
