Woodsy suburb minutes from downtown Winston-Salem
Cottages and convenience help define this growing Winston-Salem community. Konnoak is a residential neighborhood just a few miles south of the city’s heart. Surrounded by major highways, area residents are in an ideal location for day-to-day travel. “The neighborhood is a great place to invest in,” says Realtor Thomas McAbee with Fader Realty, who also lives in Konnoak. “As Winston-Salem expands outward and houses get more expensive, Konnoak is becoming more popular because it’s so affordable. I would have paid two to three times more in other neighborhoods compared to what I paid here.”
Konnoak offers quiet suburban living set in mature trees.
Konnoak folks can easily access major shopping and downtown.

Affordable, established midcentury cottages and bungalows
Homes in this established, woodsy suburb typically consist of cottages and bungalows from the early and mid-20th century. Price tags for these Craftsman-inspired dwellings tend to not exceed $200,000. There is also a selection of ranch-style and Cape Cod homes that offer more square footage, valued between $200,000 and $500,000. Buyers tend to make Konnoak their forever home, so there is limited housing available and what homes are for sale tend to go slightly above asking price.

Local conveniences and community libraries
When residents want to stay indoors cozied up with a book, venture over to the Southside Branch Library. In addition to a full selection of various reads, the library offers several resources. These include public computers, printers and a fax machine, as well as access to online databases, learning tools and homework help. Residents can also connect with their community by joining a book club. The Southside Book Club meets once a month to discuss their monthly read. Residents can also join the Short Story Society and review various short stories.
When residents need to stock their pantry, there are many options nearby, including a Food Lion, an Aldi and a Compare Foods supermarket. Parkway Plaza is a small shopping strip with a clothing store and a few restaurants. One restaurant is The Pizza Place, a go-to for cheesy pizza and hot subs. Another favorite is El Rey Del Taco Taqueria, which has platters of tacos, burritos and quesadillas.
