About Doug

As the Broker and Co-Owner of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate First Choice, Doug and his wife Jeri have amassed over 20 years of Real Estate experience. They are the third owners of their Real Estate Company, founded in 1958 by Alden Kittleson as Kittleson Real Estate. Later, it merged with Tom Sykora in 1982 and became Kittleson Realty World, then First Realty Better Homes and Gardens. Around 1998, Better Homes and Gardens decided to discontinue its Real Estate franchise business and sold it to GMAC, leading to the company becoming First Realty GMAC. In 2006, Doug and Jeri Fuller acquired First Realty GMAC from Tom Sykora. However, during the Great Recession in 2008, GMAC also opted to exit the Real Estate franchising, resulting in the company rebranding as Real Living First Realty. In 2022, the parent company that owned the Real Living franchise, Berkshire Hathaway, decided to close the Real Living brand. Doug and Jeri are excited to be back with the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate family.

Doug's background includes growing up in the Twin Cities and graduating from Hopkins High School in 1986. He moved to Bemidji in 1987 to attend BSU and purchased his first home in 1990. In 1992, he joined the Bemidji Fire Department as a Volunteer Fireman, where he held various roles including Captain for over 20 years, Vice President, Secretary of the Relief Association, and helped establish the Honor Guard. In 1998, Doug was elected to the Minnesota Legislature and served six years as the State Representative for the Bemidji area. Prior to his political career, he worked as a District Manager for the American Cancer Society and had previous experience as a bartender at the Holiday Inn and Northern Inn. In 2011, Doug and Jeri welcomed their daughter Lexi into the world.

Doug's favorite activities include Curling, Tennis, Fishing, Golf (although it has been a while since he played), and he particularly enjoys watching sports, especially his daughter's hockey games. He also enjoys traveling, with a special fondness for cruises. Doug and Jeri are committed to building long-term relationships with their customers and are enthusiastic about working with new clients. Whether someone is looking to purchase their first home, upgrade their current home, buy a cabin, or find a special piece of property, they encourage individuals to give them a call.
