Home construction is bustling in this Gulf Coast community

New residential construction is taking over in Alvin, with homes being built with one and two stories featuring brick and stone façades, attached multicar garages and energy-efficient amenities in the interior. Ranch-style homes set back in cul-de-sacs are also popular, sitting on spacious lots with manicured lawns. More established homes offer a stately feel, reflecting traditional-style architecture, with ample yard space for entertainment areas, inground pools and gorgeous lake views. A touch of historic charm comes with the Victorian homes — displaying huge front porches and fenced-in yards — dating back to the late 19th century. Prices for new builds start in the high $200,000s and go up to the low $500,000s. Other homes in the area come with price tags in the $300,000s and $400,000s.
