Old Town’s location makes it an attractive neighborhood. The sidewalks here get plenty of use, with residents walking to and from the eight neighborhood parks, three schools and shopping centers right next to the neighborhood. Multiple nearby lakes, like Lac Lavon and Crystal Lake, offer various activities, from quiet afternoons paddleboarding and fishing to beaching and tubing. While the amenities might pull interested homebuyers in, the community keeps them there. “A lot of the neighborhoods have a great sense of community. There are families walking around, and people really get to know each other,” says real estate agent Blake Halverson with Coldwell Banker Realty, who has 10 years of experience. “After a showing, we’ll linger outside, and you get to meet the neighbors, and they’ll tell you interesting stories about living there.” Split-level and ranch-style homes line the majority of Old Town’s streets. Trees grow between the curb and the sidewalk, planted at regular intervals and offering adequate shade over the sidewalks. Tended flowerbeds in front yards and along walkways add touches of personality and color to the quarter- to half-acre properties. Most homes sell between
