It may be East Falls Church, but it's the west end of Arlington

This neighborhood was once part of the City of Falls Church, but in 1936, it changed its jurisdiction to Arlington County. So even though it keeps the name of Falls Church, it's the west end of Arlington. Though it does have some of the historic 19th-century homes Falls Church is known for, much of East Falls Church is populated with high-end custom homes on large, grassy lawns. Homebuyers in this area are connected to the vast Washington & Old Dominion Trail for pedestrian access through northern Virginia and its numerous green spaces. Several major highways run through East Falls Church, and the East Falls Church metro is close to residential streets so that locals can access the greater D.C. area by train. East Falls Church locals enjoy being close to shopping and dining hubs in Falls Church and the Seven Corners area.

Locals of East Falls Church are always close to a diverse array of shopping and dining options. Just 2 miles south is Eden Center, the largest Vietnamese shopping center on the East Coast and a massive cultural hub for northern Virginia. Good Fortune Supermarket anchors Eden Center, and there are locally owned pho and banh mi restaurants, cosmetic stores and pastry shops like Huong Binh Bakery. Eden Center is connected to Seven Corners, a business center built around the intersection of several major highways. Seven Corners also has a Home Depot, a Giant for groceries, and local diners like Bawadi Mediterranean Grill, a halal restaurant serving lamb and chicken kabobs and a buffet on select days. Residents who don't want to hit the highway for food can bike 2 miles west on Washington & Old Dominion Trail to Falls Church favorites like Lazy Mike's Delicatessen, serving hot and cold subs and ice cream. Tysons Corner Center mall is just 4 miles west of East Falls Church along Interstate 66, so residents can access the largest mall in the D.C. – Baltimore area, with over 200 brand-name retailers to browse through, from American Eagle to Apple, H&M and Macy's.

W&OD Trail cuts through East Falls Church for pedestrian access

Tuckahoe Park is centrally located in East Falls Church, beside Tuckahoe Elementary. The school has a playground, walking paths through dense foliage and an amphitheater. The historic 44-mile Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail cuts through East Falls Church and provides cycling options directly into Washington, D.C., or west beyond Leesburg. The trail has many historical markers, as it was once the Alexandria, Loudoun and Hampshire Railroad as far back as 1847, and several Civil War clashes took place along the path. In 1974, city officials broke ground on the W&OD Trail's first section, and fifty years later, it's a vital pedestrian artery for the whole region. Benjamin Banneker Park is south of the neighborhood, named for the man who designed the blueprints for Washington, D.C.; the park features a playground, several picnic sites, an off-leash dog park and the forested Four Mile Trail, popular with walkers and bikers. Andrew Ellicott Park is a historic pocket park at the edge of town. Ellicott Park is unique because it has the West Cornerstone, a geographic marker of Washington, D.C.'s original western boundary before Arlington and Alexandria were retroceded into Virginia in 1847. The park is dedicated to Ellicott, who worked with Banneker as one of the surveyors for Washington, D.C.

East Falls Church has historic homes beside Contemporary custom styles

Home values in East Falls Church go from $500,000 for brick condos with less than 1,000 square feet to $2.6 million for new construction custom estates in Craftsman, Traditional and Contemporary styles that average five beds and over 5,000 square feet. A handful of townhouses also run around the middle of the range, usually $1 million or higher. Wisley says, "Some of the small enclaves in East Falls Church can hold like six-to-eight homes in a cul-de-sac." Buyers often tear down and rebuild older homes, and some historical properties date to the late 1800s, like the George Crossman House on North Underwood Street, a late Victorian-style farmhouse that is now in the National Register of Historic Places.

East Falls Church makes it easy to walk, take the train or drive to DC in 9 miles

East Falls Church is somewhat walkable; the connection to W&OD Trail helps pedestrians easily cross heavily driven areas or cross county lines from Fairfax into Loudoun County towns like Ashburn and Sterling. Retail and dining options are still far enough from the neighborhood for a car or bike to be necessary. Residents can take I-66 just 9 miles east to be in DC. The nearby Seven Corners area brings together highways like Virginia state Route 7, U.S. Route 50, Wilson Boulevard and Leesburg Pike, creating seven distinct corners. Seven Corners is very tricky to navigate for the first or second time because of its complex twists and turns, but it's considered a local rite of passage to learn when moving here. The interchange is a significant access point for commuters and locals traveling throughout northern Virginia. The neighborhood is connected to the D.C. metro, as East Falls Church station runs on the Orange and Silver Lines, and the parking lot is free on weekends for day trips to DC.
