Why Live in Perkerson
Perkerson is an established residential community in southern Atlanta tucked into a bend of two of the city's busiest highways. Interstates 85 and 75 connect the micro-community with downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. "With the airport adjacent to the community and the highways so close, residents can navigate the city effortlessly," says Realtor Juli St. George of Keller Williams Realty Intown Atlanta. She's sold homes across the city for over a decade. Perkerson's lower housing prices and proximity to popular Atlanta communities are some of its biggest draws. "Residents can easily hit downtown Atlanta, College Park and downtown Hapeville, which is charming," St. George says. "And the houses are affordable." Most homes in Perkerson date between the 1950s and '80s, but a few hundred houses were built before 1950. "The housing stock is older here, but much of it is in good shape," St. George says. "And people like it because the land lots are large." Buyers will mainly find ranch-style homes, cottages and bungalows that measure 1,000 to 2,000 square feet and have at least two bedrooms. Most lots are less than a half-acre, with small front yards
