Scatted throughout the communities of Brandon are various retail centers and established local businesses that have been around for decades. The East Side of Brandon is famous for hosting the Hillsborough County Fair, which takes place each fall.
Since Brandon has experienced many rapid periods of growth since the 1960s, it has been imperative for the economy to expand along with it. Over 500 commercial and services businesses and several malls and shopping centers serve the city. Its main sources of employment are retail and commerce, education, health and medicine, professional services, and government. Beef O’Brady’s, a family centered grill and bar that has many locations throughout the southeast, is headquartered in Brandon. In the Hillsborough County School System, there are eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school, and a number of private schools that serve Brandon and employ many residents in teaching and administration.
