Multifamily brownstones and co-ops in Mount Hope
The neighborhood is composed of mostly low-rise buildings under six stories, and many are devoted to rentals. Morris Avenue features a designated historic district, populated with barrel-fronted brick row houses built in the early 1900s. A two-bedroom in a Mount Hope-area co-op may list between $260,000 to $350,000, and co-op owners can expect to pay an additional $1,000 to $1,500 in monthly HOA fees. Turn-of-the-century bow-front brownstones with multiple units generally cost between $1 to $1.8 million. “The Bronx is what Brooklyn was 50 years ago. Any buyer coming into the Bronx now is getting in on the ground floor,” Segalla says, “Stores, restaurants, that will come.” The overall CAP Index crime score for Mount Hope is 5 out of 10, slightly above the national average of 4, though violent crimes rank higher.Dominican restaurants, plus nearby CTown Supermarket
The dining scene offers some variety, with Mexican and Dominican fare easy to find. On Jerome Avenue, burritos and tacos are on the menu at Las Sirenas, and mofongo and other Dominican dishes are served at Raices del Valle. Since 1948, Valencia Bakery has been an institution, known for its made-to-order cakes and guava paste-filled pastries. CTown Supermarket on East Tremont Avenue is the neighborhood's main grocery store, and Food Universe Marketplace is farther north on Grand Concourse. There are small delis and markets throughout the community as well.Choices for middle and high school learning in Mount Hope

There is a playground at Mount Hope Garden along East Burnside Avenue, not to be mistaken for Mount Hope Playground along Walton Avenue. The nearest branch of the New York Public Library is the Grand Concourse Library, located just south of Interstate 95. They host daily programs for children, as well as tech help for older adults and teen meetups.B and D and 4 trains, plus Metro-North
Metropolitan Transportation Authority subway access for the B and D trains is along Grand Concourse, and the 4 train stops at 176th Street and Burnside Avenue. During rush hour, express stops on the 4 train offer expedited travel to Manhattan. The Harlem Line on the Metro-North is accessible from East Tremont Avenue, providing a route to Grand Central or upstate. There are also bus stops along Grand Concourse and East Tremont Avenue, and buses run to and from Midtown. Drivers can hop on Interstate 95 from Jerome Avenue, and La Guardia Airport is about 10 miles away. In emergencies, the nearest care is available at the BronxCare Hospital Center, located along Grand Concourse, just a couple blocks south of I-95.Street fairs and Yankees games
