‘Lots of greenery and gorgeous properties’

Midwood, in south-central Brooklyn, is a quiet and peaceful residential area with a diverse community and easy access to the rest of the city. "It feels like a real neighborhood, with lots of greenery and gorgeous properties, most of which are single-family homes,” says Dawn David, a Corcoran agent and vice president at the developer Adellco. Midwood is home to everything from kosher butchers to hip Thai eateries, and it has several parks and playgrounds. “I like that it’s also a very diverse neighborhood, and it’s a great place to raise children,” says David, who was born and raised in nearby Flatbush.

Victorians and Tudor Revivals in South Brooklyn

Midwood has streets of single-family homes in an array of styles, from Victorian to Tudor Revival. Many are detached houses with lawns and driveways, including those in the Fiske Terrace-Midwood Park Historic District along Glenwood Road, the northern edge of Midwood. There are also brick rowhouses. Prices range from about $1 million to around $3.6 million. “There are also a lot of co-ops that are generously sized and much more affordable than other parts of the city or the borough,” David says. A two-bedroom unit in a prewar building is available for about $650,000, and some studios and one-bedrooms are on offer for less than $300,000. New condos are popping up in Midwood, such as the H7O Condominium on Avenue H, a mid-rise development with 38 units. Homes start at around $535,000 for a one-bedroom unit and rise to $1.1 million for a three-bedroom.

Di Fara Pizza, on Avenue J, is known throughout the city and often has lines out the door. Other restaurants are clustered along Cortelyou Road. “I feel like I’m in Williamsburg or Soho when I’m there,” David says. She recommends the Thai restaurant Corthaiyou. There’s also Purple Yam, serving American cuisine, and tapas spot Manchego-Koko. The Sycamore Bar + Flower Shop sells blooms by day and beers by night.

what I love about Midwood is the place itself, not too crowded but not too alone, you feel safe and it is surrounded by many attractions and good transportation service

Midwood is a great area to live in. There are many stores that you can go shopping in and there are parks were you can take a stroll. The public schools are great and provide amazing schooling.

Midwood does not have many good restaurants and there is nothing really to do entertainment wise. There will be a few blocks of really nice houses and then a few blocks of okay apartments. Good train and bus accessibility.
