Hilly, winding streets weave through the neighborhood of Prospect Park, including around its small namesake park. Residents live midway between Big Lake Park and the Historic 100 Block, Council Bluffs’ primary destination for dining and nightlife. “That’s a decent neighborhood close to the 100 Block,” says Lynn Leaders, a Realtor with Heartland Properties. “I have a couple friends who live up by Prospect Park, and they don’t have vehicles. They just ride their bikes everywhere.” The neighborhood is also within a mile of the Pottawattamie County Jail, where jobs in corrections are available. The neighborhood is exclusively residential, with a few apartment buildings sharing space with shotgun- and Craftsman-style homes. “There’s quite a mix up there, with some older homes that have been converted into multifamily units, some historic homes, and some brand-new homes with great views of downtown,” Leaders says.
