Eden Gardens’ Community Garden is a partnership between the Eden Gardens Community Association and the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue. The learning garden began as an initiative to address residents’ concerns, such as the lack of healthy food options and the revitalization of vacant lots in the neighborhood. Residents can come to the garden to learn how to grow and harvest their produce and sell it to local farmers markets. New additions to the park include a fruit orchard with 16 different trees. The season begins in April and runs through November on Thursday-Sunday for community members looking to get acquainted with their neighbors.
Area schools include a magnet high school and arts conservatory
Edward “Duke” Ellington Conservatory of Music and Art provides a combined curriculum emphasizing Performing and Fine arts and academic development and is graded with a C-minus, according to Niche. Other schools include Charles L. Spain Elementary-Middle School and Cass Technical High School, awarded a B-minus, according to Niche. It is a magnet school providing a rigorous college prep-based curriculum.
