"Since I've been five years old, I've lived in the city, and I don't care to live anywhere else," says Shannon Ellis, a longtime resident of Pearl and Realtor with Havard Real Estate. Most homes in the city were built in the last 30 years, and new housing developments are constantly springing up around the city. Residential blocks are lined with emerald-green lawns—generally well-manicured—and often backed by forests and waterways. Cape Cods and ranch-style homes are common throughout the city, and there are a few neighborhoods around town that offer more spacious new traditional homes. In general, though, properties in Pearl are a little smaller and more wallet-friendly than in neighboring Flowood. "I live probably bird's eye from the airport, and it just doesn't bother us," Ellis notes.
