Ridglea
Two golf courses and several courts at Ridglea Country Club
Ridglea Country Club sits in the heart of the Ridglea Hills. The membership-only club opened in 1954 and includes a north course with narrow fairways and small greens and a south course with less terrain. Beyond golf, members can dive into the deep end of the pool or swim laps in the marked lanes. Tennis and pickleball players grab their racquets and practice their swing at one of the 11 hard courts or three pickleball courts. Wedged between the club's north and south courses, Ridglea Hills Park provides a vibrant red-and-yellow playground where kids race through the woodchips between two slides and a merry-go-round. Dogs run through the North Z Boaz Dog Park, 10 acres built on a former golf course with accessible ponds and agility structures. The Como Community Center offers a playroom where kids can run free while adults work up a sweat at the fitness center.Ranch-styles and Mid-century modern homes
Prominent yards and broad, bushy trees decorate the streets in the central and southern areas of the Ridglea neighborhood. Appropriately named Ridglea Hills has limited sidewalks; however, wide streets offer ample room to stroll the community. The northern end of the neighborhood sits on flatter land and includes more sidewalks and wider roads with street parking. Houses typically cost between $250,000 for a ranch style and more than $1 million for a modern, mid-century or Colonial Revival home. Two-bedroom condos cost around $140,000 for a standard unit near major freeways to $740,000 for a newly renovated Mediterranean condo.Serving submarine subs for over 50 years
On the north end of Ridglea, shopping and dining options exist along Camp Bowie Boulevard. Whole Foods, Sprouts Farmer's Market and Walmart Neighborhood Market are several nearby grocery stores. Drew's Place Soulfood offers southern favorites with a skylit interior and outdoor patio décor. Galligaskins Submarines Restaurant and Catering serves submarine sandwiches and burgers to patrons seated in green booths, with red walls and a wooden silhouette cutout of Texas as a backdrop. The sandwich shop first opened in 1972 and remains a community staple. A few miles to the northwest are big-name retailers, such as Target.Elaborate Christmas lights on Luther Lake
The community gets involved in holiday festivities. During the Christmas season, multicolored lights decorate the streets and glisten along Luther Lake. "Throughout the neighborhood, you will find very elaborate displays," Schweitzer says. Luther Lake also hosts a big party for Independence Day in the summer, including a large fireworks show.National champion cheerleading at Arlington Heights High
Ridglea students may start at Ridglea Hills Elementary School, which receives a B rating from Niche. Ridglea Hills participates in a 1:1 Chromebook program, providing students with digital devices to facilitate learning. Schweitzer says there is a lot of community and parent involvement with the school. William Monnig Middle School earns a C-plus and provides students with art-centric electives like jazz, theater, photography and choir. Arlington Heights High School, a B-plus-rated institution, won its first two National Cheerleading Association national championships in competitive cheerleading in 2024.Take Interstate 30 straight to downtown Fort Worth
There is little public transportation; most errands require a car. Interstate 30 leads straight to downtown Fort Worth, about seven miles to the east. Fort Worth Meacham International Airport is about 16 miles northeast, while the DFW International Airport is about 35 miles northeast.
